Dear Coos Bay Schools, Families and Community,
It is hard to believe that we are just three and a half weeks from the finish line for this crazy COVID year.
As we have come to expect, the guidance from the CDC and OHA changes often. The new Mask/vaccine guidance has been released and we are going to work to establish how it effects protocols in our schools. We should have a solid plan by the end of next week. Until then, all current protocols remain in place. The case numbers released on Monday showed a slight increase in cases in Coos County. So far this week, the trend is continuing. Monday’s number was 56 cases for the two week period. So far just this week we have 45 new cases reported, which will mean next Monday will show another increase for the two-week lookback.
While we still remain in the Green for schools, the increase in cases is concerning. I want to encourage everyone to follow safety protocols in our schools, community, and state so that we do not see a dramatic rise in cases that could effect our graduation plans. It’s been a tough year on everyone and we want to end this school year on a positive note with a great graduation ceremony for the class of 2021.
