Volunteers transform fields at Coos Bay schools

Two schools in the Coos Bay School District have some of the best baseball and softball fields in the region thanks to the volunteer work done by the Coos Bay Coast League.

Over the weekend, more than 20 volunteers donated their time to make major upgrades to the fields at Blossom Gulch School and Sunset School. The Coos Bay Coast League brought in 100 yards of material, and the volunteers laid 14,000 square feet of sod to transform the fields from dirt and rocks to beautiful playing fields.

The playing fields at both schools are open to the public and have been used routinely as practice fields for youth baseball and softball teams.

Thanks to the Coos Bay Coast League, and volunteers who worked Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the fields are among the best in the region.

The Coos Bay School District appreciates the work done by the Coos Bay Coast League. The new fields make both of us look good.
