Dear Sunset Families,

As we move through the school year, we are excited to share some positive updates about the great things happening here at Sunset and to celebrate the progress our students are making.

Recently, students completed our Middle of the Year assessments, and we are proud of the growth we’re seeing. In English Language Arts, students showed impressive gains, with noticeable increases in accuracy rates across grade levels. This progress reflects the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the partnership we share with families in supporting literacy at home and at school.

In mathematics, we are seeing slow but steady growth. While there is still work to be done, this continued progress is encouraging, and we are committed to building on these gains through targeted instruction and ongoing support for our learners.

We also want to highlight attendance, which plays a critical role in student success. Our regular attendance rate has remained over 70% throughout this school year. While we are still below the state’s goal of 90%, this marks a meaningful improvement from last year. Thank you for your continued efforts to get your children to school each day. Your commitment truly makes a difference. Let’s keep up the good work!

Thank you for being such an important part of the Sunset community. We look forward to an exciting remainder of the school year and to continuing our work together to help every student grow and succeed.

Sincerely,

Kara Davidson, Principal
